Quick fixes for common issues

// 01 — Export

Instagram shuffled my slides

Instagram orders a carousel by the order you tap the photos in its picker, not by file name. Save the export to Photos, open Instagram, select multiple, and tap slide 1 first, then 2, and so on. The numbers in GridMakr's slide strip are the order.

// 02 — Seams

The panorama does not line up

Pick the same ratio in Instagram that the post was exported in (it asks when you select the first photo) and do not let it re-crop. Every panel leaves GridMakr at exactly 1080 px wide, so with the ratio kept, the seams meet edge to edge.

// 03 — Picker

A photo is missing in the picker

The picker is Apple's, and it shows what Photos has. A photo that lives only in iCloud can take a moment to download; a photo you deleted in Photos is gone for the picker too. GridMakr has no library access of its own, so there is nothing to grant in Settings.

Changing the ratio moved my photos

Expected. A ratio change re-clamps every photo so nothing shows a gap, but it keeps your framing wherever it still fits. Pan and pinch to adjust; double-tap a cell to reset it to fill.

Shuffle threw away my arrangement

Frames you moved or resized by hand are pinned and survive Shuffle; only the rest are re-hung. Changing the slide count asks first (“Re-hang”). If the wall came out empty, add photos with the + tile on the paper.

The App Store says it needs a newer iOS

GridMakr needs iOS 26. It is built on the Liquid Glass design system, which does not exist on earlier versions. Update in Settings → General → Software Update; any iPhone that runs iOS 26 runs GridMakr.

From export to posted

Six taps, in order.

GridMakr never touches your Instagram account, so the last mile is yours. This is the whole routine; the only rule is to tap the slides in the order the strip shows them.

Tap Export in the editor. Every slide is rendered at 1080 px wide.
In the share sheet, choose Save Images. They land in Photos, in order.
Open Instagram, tap +, then Post.
Turn on Select multiple and tap the slides 1, 2, 3… — the numbers become the carousel order.
Keep the ratio Instagram proposes for the first photo (the export already has the right one). Do not crop.
Caption, share. Swipe through once to admire the seams.

Frequently asked, briefly answered

Which ratio should I pick?

3:4 if the profile grid matters to you — since January 2025 the grid shows 3:4, so it fits without a crop. 4:5 is the tallest a feed post gets and loses about 6 % at the sides on the grid. 1:1 is the classic square and loses 25 % on the grid. The ratio is set once per post; every slide follows it, because Instagram allows only one ratio per carousel.

Can I mix a stack, a panorama and single photos in one post?

Yes. The slide strip holds the whole carousel: tap + to add a slide of any kind, hold a slide to duplicate, reorder or delete it, and split a panorama into singles from the Layout panel. Ratio and frame are shared by every slide.

How many slides can a post have?

Twenty, which is Instagram's limit. A stack holds two to six photos in one slide; a panorama can span as many slides as you like up to that limit; a gallery hangs its photos across however many slides you give it.

Does it work without an internet connection?

Completely. GridMakr makes no network requests at all — there is no server, no account and no analytics. Airplane mode changes nothing.

What exactly does Export produce?

One JPEG per slide, 1080 pixels wide, at the post's ratio, handed to the standard share sheet in slide order. Save them to Photos, AirDrop them or send them anywhere else — they are ordinary image files.

Where are my drafts?

Drafts are on the way: a post you leave will be waiting on Home when you come back, stored as copies inside the app so nothing depends on your library. Until that ships, export before you leave the editor.

Will there be an iPad or Mac version?

Not yet. GridMakr is iPhone-only for now. If enough people ask, it is the next platform on the list — the layout engine does not care about screen size.

Compatibility & specs

OS version iOS 26 or later. The interface is built on Liquid Glass, which earlier versions do not have.

Device iPhone. Any model that runs iOS 26.

Input Any photo the system picker can hand over — JPEG, HEIC, PNG, screenshots, Live Photo stills. Up to 20 at a time for a gallery.

Output JPEG, 1080 px wide, one file per slide, in slide order, via the share sheet.

Ratios 3:4 · 4:5 · 1:1, one per post.

Compositions Stack (2–6 photos in rows or columns), Slice (one photo across up to 20 panels), Gallery (many photos hung across a strip of slides), mixed freely in one post.

Permissions None. The photo picker runs outside the app; the share sheet handles saving.
